  • Why are my remodeling estimate costs so different when I get three or four estimates for my job?

This is one of our most frequently ask remodeling FAQ: The cost variance could be caused by several factors. First, I would check and see if all the bidding contractors are talking about the same products, material and range of work. Secondly, I would be concerned about the quality of the various contractor's work. Check with their references and don't be afraid to check on older jobs to see how the work has held up over time. Finally, we suggest you ask the references if the contractors completed their work on time. A three week estimate that drags on into five or six weeks has all the makings of a nightmare.

  • What if I have questions after the job starts? Are you difficult to get in touch with?

Unlike most remodeling contractors we only take on one major project at time. This means that George is usually available on the job site to give you a progress report or answer your questions. Of course, you will also be given George's private cell phone number.

  • How do you deal with the mess created by the job?

When you check with our references you will see that we always try to make sure, when a project is completed, that the job location is left cleaner than when we began. We routinely block off the work area from the rest of the home with floor-to-ceiling walls of 4 mil, heavy duty plastic.

  • Who will be coming out to the job site to give us our estimate?

Unlike many remodeling companies, George doesn't hire well compensated salesmen to tell you only what you want to hear. George, the owner, personally visits every potential job site and works on every estimate because he needs to make sure there are no misunderstandings if the project moves forward.

  • What service area do you cover?

We cover all of Brooklyn, N.Y. This includes: Bay Ridge, Bensonhurst, Borough Park, Dyker Heights, Sunset Park, Bushwick, Greenpoint, Williamsburg, Brooklyn Heights, Brooklyn Navy Yard, Cadman Plaza, Clinton Hill, Downtown Brooklyn, DUMBO, Fort Greene, Fulton Ferry, Pacific Park, Prospect Heights, Vinegar Hill, Boerum Hill, Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill, Gowanus, Park Slope, Red Hook, Crown Heights, Flatbush, Prospect Park, Kensington, Midwood, Brownsville, Canarsie, Highland Park and BedfordStuyvesant.

  • I want a full gut renovation. How long does that take?

Many remodeling companies will take 10 to 18 months for a full gut, depending on the size of the residence.

We routinely finish large complex projects in 1 to 3 months.

  • How are you often able to finish large projects in less than half the time of your competitors?

Here's our secret! George has assembled a team of craftsmen who have worked together for over ten years. The crew goes to the job every morning and everything they need for the day is on the site. Because all supplies and materials are planned, ordered and delivered on time, Picasso operates as a well oiled machine.

And because George only takes on one major project at time you won't find him jumping around from one job site to the next with a multitude of crews...as is the case with many large remodeling companies. George will personally be on your job site giving it the attention and focus it deserves. Your Brooklyn one-floor "gut" renovation can be completed in just 4 weeks.
